From Stemple Pass, head east on USFS road 1827. Note that this road is only open to vehicles July 1 – Oct 14. Bear right at the “Y” that is about 0.6 miles from Stemple pass. Turn left at the acute junction that is about 7.5 miles from Stemple Pass and follow this road another 2-miles to the end. This is the Trailhead. The gravel Stemple Pass road is open year-round and is suitable for all vehicles. FS-1827 is a wide USFS road that is suitable for most vehicles, but it is prudent to take a chain saw, as it not heavily used and may not be cleared to the full width.
From the trailhead, hike 0.5 miles up through the gently sloping lodgepole forest to the summit. You will cross the CDT shortly after leaving the trailhead and can turn left (uphill) on the CDT to gain some easy on-trail elevation before leaving the trail for the final ridge walk to the summit. The actual summit is clearly evident as a small rocky high point after walking about 0.15 miles on the summit ridge through ambiguous forested topography.
