Portlander, new to radio and mainly getting into it just for SOTA.

All I have so far is a Yaesu FT-60 with an N9TAX Slim Jim. Once I'm more fluent in CW I'll buy a better rig. Zero activations so far; I figured I may as well set up an account here from the very beginning.

I had wanted to get involved with amateur radio for many years and finally took a class in November 2019 and passed the Technician and General tests. Got Amateur Extra in June 2020. Started with CWOPS training and looking forward to trying CW with SOTA.

Just getting started. Have been listening on weekends for SOTA activations.

Returning the hobby after 7 years. General class working on upgrading to Extra. Completely portable Station that will act as a base station as well.

Completely new to SOTA chasing and activating. Entry level in both categories.

UK based ham - recently active again after a 20 year break, and currently in "Lockdown" with plenty of time for reading about distant mountain tops!
Wire antennas at home - and with the current sleepy stse of the sun not expecting west coast DX at the moment!

Very.... very slowly working towards "Goat". Tend to use 40/80m. (FT 817, 50w amp and linked dipole)

I recently got my amateur radio tech license and I love hiking. What a great way to combine both!

I have an FT3DR, and I’d like to do a little of both if possible.

I've been a ham since 1978 but was pretty inactive from the mid-80's until last year. Got back into the hobby primarily to do public service. Ran across the SOTA program last month and thought it sounded cool as I love hiking. I spend the summers in the Seattle area and winter in Tucson so will be chasing summits in both regions.

I have just started with SOTA this summer. Other commitments have kept me off of a summit so far but hope to get that solved this month. Have done some chasing and am getting my antennas built so I can hit the trail. Using a KX3 with Alexloop or EFHW.

I am 45 years old and I live in North Plains, OR. Hobbies that I enjoy are hiking, backpacking, and HAM radio. This is why I have interest in trying SOTA.

I have not participated in any SOTA activities yet, but my primary interest would be to activate peaks. I recently acquired an Icom IC-705 radio.

I consider myself a 'baby' ham as I have only been licensed since 2016. I have been working on my CW for quite some time and finally got on the air with it in March 2020. This has really opened up my opportunity to chase more SOTA. I have activated 6 summits with hope to do more. Vick, K7VK has been my great SOTA mentor, I have gained a lot of knowledge from him and been on several activations with him. I earned my Shack Sloth last December. I am located in Missoula, MT.

Mostly a chaser but have activated about 6 summits with hope to do more. Icom 7300 at home and a KX2 on the summits.

I just started getting into ham radio and thought this would be a great activity to get my daughter's into radio.

I just got a yaesu ft3dr now and ordered a ft-991a and signed up to take my general next Friday. Never tried this but I have been hiking around Washington all my life.

Enjoy many things in the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, camping, SOTA & POTA.

Just getting started as I have just found these additional things to do while travelling, camping and ATVing.
I'll be using the Yaesu FT3DR with a home built 3 element portable Yagi.

I like to hike, backpack and camp. Do some hunting and fishing. Just generally like being outdoors. Finding that I really like operating portable and qrp. Though I don’t get to get out as much as I’d like due to other commitments. Most of my activations are pretty much spur of the moment.

Mostly operate ssb and fm. Would like to do some digital. Hope to soon learn cw.
