I got on here to correct/ edit my previous blog but realized I never did a first! I've done Burton a few times and it isn't that significant in features. Just an easy stroll through the timber. Plenty of area to set up. A nice easy trek, shaded summit but no view. No established trail but the dead end road you can continue on by foot and there are other cleared out areas from logging roads many years ago. For some reason I get discombobulated easily coming down Burton and sometimes come to far left nearly missing the spur. If you are like me, keep a tracker going. It's a short hike, about 0.5 mile up, but getting lost is still possible!
This will be a June activation for me from now on as I really had success with mushrooms. My pack gained weight going up!
Simple to get there, take RD 3862 from Clover Cr Rd. and eventually it will turn to the left on a spur road with wooden post 240. If you don't have high clearance or your vehicle you may want to park and walk a little further from this road or 3862. This trip, June 2022, the snow had just melted in the last couple weeks and we had heavy rains. The red cinder road has some pretty good wash out ruts especially at the lower end right now. It takes about 10 min to get to "TH" from Clover Cr Rd.
