After a thirty year break from commercial radio, Tom is back on the air as a Ham. He is currently uses an ICOM 7300 with a vertical antenna, and interested in QRP radios and tinkers with an ICOM 705 and Elecraft KX3 as portable devices. He recently upgraded to Extra Class in February 2012, and is interested primarly in Phone, DStar, digital and emergency communications. He enjoys helping in public events and currently volunteers with the Blaine Auxillary Communications Service (Blaine Police Department) and Whatcom County Auxillary Communications Service (Whatcom County Sheriff's Office) Recently assisted Snohomish County, Washington during the Oso landslide by manning the EOC in Everett March of 2014 as a communications operator. Much to my surprise I was awarded an ARRL certificate and a letter from our Governor for our assistance in the Oso slide effort in 2014.
