26 SEP 21: This previously un-activated summit was a rare treat on a beautiful fall afternoon. Parking can be tricky and the access road is bordered by private property on both sides. I recommend parking on Museum Road near Highway 395; the walk in from there is around 3.2 mi with gradually increasing hills.
Property owners on both sides of the road have had issues with unsanctioned hunting of their land as evidenced by the numerous No Trespassing signs lining both sides. Remain on the main gravel road and have a good map source handy. Pass through several intersections and a small logging operation to reach the WA Resource Management Area in about a mile. Continue on the jeep trail up to the left, climbing steeply in the last mile to the first false summit, then finally the actual summit. A nice open area with plenty of tall trees for a throw line and antenna is at the top. Good APRS over the entire route + cell coverage.
