This was my first time up Barlow Ridge in the summer. Park at the Barlow Pass Sno-Park with a NW Forest Pass. The trail is well-marked, albeit the signs are up high due to this area's popularity during the winter. I encountered quite a few large blow down trees at the start of the hike, so be prepared for some significant tree scrambling.
Other than the occasional downed tree, the trail is good. Be prepared for a steep trail and don't get fooled by Barlow Butte vs. the longer hike to the Ridge. Overall this is a really nice hike. I heard K7ATN on his summit while I was hiking in and got a chase there. I was too late for an S2S, but I made the AZ in time for a QSO. With a RUJP I got 57 signal into North Portland. No copy into Beaverton unfortunately. I managed 4 QSOs on VHF and then set up HF CW.
Beutiful views from the summit.
