Getting there: The route is quite straighforward. As of October 2024, it is possible to drive the 1/2 mile up the brushed-in logging road from the 5800 road to where the old road grade peels off. There is parking for two vehicles at the start of the bushwhack.

The Bushwhack: The road grade is quite grown over with trees that are 15-20 years old, so there's lots of thick lower branches to impede your progress. Fortunately, everything is small diameter, so a brush axe would make quick work of most of it and you could fairly easily hack your way through and leave a nice, obvious pathway for the first 1/3 of a mile up the old road. There's a big mossy flat area where the road ends at an old quarry. Pick your way up through the quarry to get on the ridgelne and follow it to the summit. The local bear population has worn the bark off the lower branches of a lot of the trees on the steeper slope. There are a lot of false summits on the way up. You will have to push hard through very thick coniferous underbrush to reach the summit. Seriously, if you're the next activator, bring a brush axe.

The Activation Zone: There is plenty of room for a wire antenna in additions to ample trees for hanging a wire. It was raining the day I activated but it appears there are nice views from the summit.

I was able to spot using Verizon. There is about 1 bar of digital service. I attempted to make VHF contacts but did not succeed.
