A Weyerhaeuser "Longview St Helens" motorized permit is required for this route: Take I5 to Exit 32; head East on Kalama River Road to very end. That is gate 6000 unlock gate and pass through. Take Road 6000 all the way to the end where you run into a gate is for non-motorized access.
You can turn left here and drive all the way to the summit. I parked and hiked the 2.5 miles (approx 1200 ft vertical) to summit. Recent clear cut of timber offers wide open views to the east looking right out at Goat Mtn and Mt St Helens, yet trees at top offer shade and peek-a-boo view over to LakeView Peak.
I had originally planned to do this summit after Lakeview Pk, but the road from that side was blocked by snow at that time, so I did this as a separate activation. Think about maybe doing this with LC-105 or Lakeview to save a long drive out for a 2 pointer on its own.
