Directions (should be drivable by mid-late June):
- From I-15 north of Helena – Exit at Lincoln Road (Exit-200) – Head West on Hwy-279 for 22.3 miles
- Turn Left (west) towards Stemple Pass – drive 8.3 miles to the Pass (Pass is plowed in winter)
- Turn Left (westerly) on the Marsh Creek Road – Drive 3.0 miles to the Granite Butte Lookout road
- Turn Left (easterly) on the Granite Butte Road – Drive 1.4 miles to the Lookout (summit)
Alternatively – the summit can be accessed from the South via the Marsh Creek Road. We activated this on May 20, and had to hike in about 4 miles through snow that was will quite deep in spots.
The lookout is available to rent year-round via www.recreation.gov . There are very nice views from the summit.
