Licensed as WN7DEO in 1965. As WA7DEO upgraded to Extra. 1996 changed call to K7VK.
Retired Forest Ecologist/Forest Silviculturist USFS.
Operate 160m through 70cm. New to SOTA in 2016. Love to summit scramble and wish I'd have known about SOTA years ago.

I activate and chase. Got into SOTA in 2016. Now using a KX3 and am looking forward to scrambling summits while I'm still able to. SOTA has already taken me to summits I would not have otherwise hiked. Two summits activated in and near the Bob Marshall/Scapegoat Wilderness have thrilling views, W7M/GA-084 & GA-163. My heart rate elevated when my radio was placed near large piles (fortunately old) of grizzly bear scat.

My wife Barbara - AE7AQ and myself activate primarily in the Helena area, but we also include activations into backpacking and road trips. I typically use a KX3 for shorter activations (1-3 days), and a KX1 for longer backpacking trips. My preferred antenna is a SOTABeams link dipole that is supported by a 22-foot fiberglass mast.

Working in Portland metro area, doing parks and summits as I can around an odd work schedule and two small children.

Running an FT-891 with an EFHW and some light masts. Only done a few summits in SE Oregon when we didn't draw any deer tags but still wanted the trip. Mostly get summit chases when I sneak in a POTA activation.

Been ham since 1980, recently started chasing for SOTA (got my first sloth summer of 23), hope to start activating soon.

So far it is mostly chasing, I do have all my equipment to start activating.

I got licensed in February 2023 and have been slowly expanding my interests in ham radio outward.

Chasing for the moment from my home QTH—maybe activating later?

I'm retired from a career in Fire/EMS and love the out of doors. I obtained a General Ham license in March of 2023 and the Technician license a month before in February 2023. SOTA caught my attention and has inspired me to operate outside. I live in central Oregon and there are many SOTA peaks here. I've activated a few SOTA peaks on 2M FM and am working to expand into HF SSB phone mode. I chase operators whenever I'm monitoring. I hope to connect with you on the Air! -Darrell

I'm currently activating nearby summits with 2m HT using an extendable whip or 3 element Yagi antennas. I'm planning to expand to HF SSB phone mode. I chase whenever I'm monitoring and hear a station calling CQ for SOTA. I also monitor SOTA Goat alerts for 2m in my region.

Ham radio operator located in Central Oregon. Thinking about getting started in SOTA.

Interested in possibly becoming an activator. Enjoy casually chasing SOTA.

First licensed in 1974, always lived in Idaho but sometimes you'll hear me remote from another part of the country.

I started my SOTA activities as a chaser on June 4th of 2016. A local friend of mine (K7MK) was the activator on that day and I've been chasing his summits (and many others) ever since. In February of 2020 I decided to see what the activation side of SOTA was all about , so I put in an order for an Elecraft KX2. My first activation happened on March 16, 2020 on W7I/BC-064 where I racked up 22 CW QSOs giving me 9 points, plus an S2S QSO. Fun times are ahead!

First licensed in 1983, I have lived in the Columbia River Gorge for 11 years.

Getting in shape and looking forward to getting started. I have a Xiegu G-90 and am looking to get something a little more compact.

Scout, long-time hiker and recent ham radio enthusiast, security researcher @ Intel. If you'd like to join me for an activation, or have a question about a summit I've gone up, please reach out to me!

CW and FM operator, mostly 20 and 2 meters. Interested in 2m distance and long distance 20m. Big on volcanoes and pretty views. Based in Portland, but I'm in Seattle enough to activate up there from time to time. I'm a fan of building kits and convincing people to join SOTA.

Hi! I’ve been active in HAM radio and SOTA as of January 2023. Excited to have a reason to get in more exploration of the state, learn more about radio and meet like minded folks at the same time. My call sign used to belong to my grandmother.

Only done peak activations so far, as I am only able to have a handheld at home and not been able to chase successfully yet.
