I had recent occasion to visit Northern Idaho and was able to fit in a few activations.
For this summit, it seemed like there was no good way to access the Stimson property.
However, going around the back on Baker Lake Rd yielded a locked gate onto Sunrise Hill Lane around (48.209256, -117.265011) posted non-motorized access only about a mile from the summit.
So I parked on the side of the road and headed in. Around (48.20858, -117.26479) I departed from the road and headed up the ridge. This first part is a relatively easy bushwhack for the first quarter mile. There is another road which intersects the ridge and that is what you are shooting for. Unfortunately, there is a ring of dense bushes that you have to push through to get to that road. It's not too bad but going up there is no clear path to which areas are more dense or less.
Once at the road around (48.206156, -117.263424 you will see an old jeep trail across from the road which continues up the ridge and leads just below the summit. Follow this jeep trail across the next road at ( 48.202241, -117.258916) and on up. Around (48.199780, -117.257641) you will need to finish the ascent to the summit. Again, there are more bushes to push through towards the top but it's not too bad. There are some nice views of the valley on the way up.
At the top, is a small clearing and a few trees to string up a wire or tie up a pole. The sun had by then come out and it was very pleasant at the top. No QRN to speak of and I made 12 QSO in relatively quick order. That included a 737 air mobile QSO with WA7E while on his way to LA!
NOTE: there were a lot of ticks on the way up. Check your clothes carefully!
