This summit was my last one on a recent trip to Willamette National Forest.

It came about after all the other summits I had selected north of the Santiam Hwy were closed due to recent fire damage.

I approached this one after activating Pinnacle Peak (W7O/WV-033)  I parked around 44.627471, -122.175220.  The climb is a rough bushwhack up from the road.  There are two ridgelines, I happened to choose the NE one and it was half rhodadendron bushes and half open evergreen forest but quite steep the whole way.  The climb took me around 45 min and elevation gain around 550' or so.  The butte is quite long so I set up towards the middle after checking that there was no serious dip along the top.  As such there is no issue finding a spot to string up awire with plenty of trees on the summit.  Since I had inadvertently left my fiberglass pole back at Buck Mt (W7O/WV-012), this was fortunate.

I got on the air just before the UTC rollover and was able to get enough contacts to activate the park a second time.

After taking care of all the chasers and hunters, I packed up and headed back to Buck to retrieve my fiberglass pole.

Good times.
