Here's a sort of easy hike close in to Klamath Falls, Oregon. You'll keep your car clean as the trailhead access is paved all the way into the parking lot.
There are several unofficial trails that lead up Hogback, but the most traveled route begins off Foothills Boulevard from the Foothills Christian Fellowship Church parking lot - 6200 Church Hill Dr, Klamath Falls.
Start by climbing 0.5 miles nearly straight up to a road. You'll be wishing that someone would build a proper trail when you head back down - and end up slipping on the loose gravel and rocks.
Although this road appears to head right toward the summit, resist the temptation to go that direction and continue up about 0.15 miles to a trail on the ridgetop. You'll continue on a trail about one mile to a road just outside the AZ. You'll see the fire lookout from here - it's right on the summit about another 0.15 miles ahead.
There are a few small trees and shrubs here for antenna lashing, and a number of communication sites. On the edge of the AZ no interference from the comm sites was noticed. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to raise anyone on 146.52 from this or any other Klamath Falls area summit.
